Water Saving Training from ASKİ to 3.300 Students

Ankara Water and Sewerage Administration (ASKİ), which attaches importance to social responsibility projects as well as drinking water and infrastructure investments, aims to raise awareness among students about water saving by visiting village schools with limited resources.

ASKİ experts have visited 11 schools in Ankara and reached over 3 students within the scope of the “Water Resources Management and Climate Change Awareness Project” and “A Box of Happiness Project”.

ASKİ General Directorate, under the management of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who has implemented exemplary social responsibility campaigns in Turkey, also attaches importance to social assistance and solidarity. ASKİ launched the “Water Resources Management and Climate Change Awareness Project” in 2021 and the “One Box of Happiness Project” in 2024. ASKİ experts, who have been visiting schools in the capital within the scope of the two projects carried out together for a year, are making animation-supported presentations to students to raise awareness about water conservation. In addition, stationery, tools, books and toys collected with the donations of ASKİ employee volunteers are also reaching out to primary and secondary school students with limited opportunities, especially in rural areas.

FIRST VISIT IN THE NEW YEAR KIZILCAHAMAM ÇELTİKÇİ SECONDARY SCHOOL

The first school that ASKİ experts visited in March 2024 within the scope of the “A Box of Happiness Project” was Çanıllı Village Primary School in Ayaş district, as it was a common education area where students from surrounding villages were also moved. The first visit of 2025 was made to Kızılcahamam Çeltikçi Middle School. During the visit, gift boxes containing books were given to the students. In addition, information was shared with the children about “climate change and global warming problems and conscious consumption of water.”

“SEEING THE JOY IN CHILDREN’S EYES IS PRICE FOR EVERYTHING”

ASKİ Deputy General Manager Muhammed Ercan reported that 2 schools in different districts of Ankara have been visited and over 11 students have been reached within the scope of the 3 projects that have been progressing together for a year. Ercan said, “We are getting very positive reactions from the children. They are watching the animation presentation that our team has prepared, which includes educational information, with interest. They are also showing interest in the gift boxes that we have prepared with the contributions of our ASKİ personnel. Frankly, seeing the joy in the eyes of the children is worth everything.”

Ercan spoke as follows:

“Our goal is to support children by providing them with access to the stationery they need for their education. Moreover, since these children will be the adults of the future, we meet their basic needs as much as possible while also informing them about water consumption. We draw attention to the problem of climate change and increasing water scarcity.

"We tell children about the value of water with educational presentations and convey simple and effective methods for water use. We aim to reach all schools in the rural areas of Ankara in time."
