A Night Chasing the Stars in Bursa

Science enthusiasts who observed the Sun, planets and the Moon with professional telescopes at the 'Sky Observation Festival' organized by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality experienced a science-filled evening.

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, which has undertaken many events to make future generations love science and to provide an opportunity to put the theoretical education given in classes into practice, hosted another science-filled event. The 'Parade of the Planets - Sky Observation Festival' event hosted by the Science and Technology Center brought together science enthusiasts at Hüdavendigar City Park. Citizens who showed great interest in the festival had the opportunity to observe the Sun, Saturn, Venus, Moon, Jupiter and Mars through professional telescopes. Bursa residents, who received information about the Milky Way from experts, examined the spots and explosions on the Sun's surface with a solar telescope. The exhibition featuring photographs by Bursa's astrophotographers Uğur İkizler and Şener Şanlı attracted great attention. Those who attended the event were also given badges for the celestial bodies they observed.

Bursa Science and Technology Center Planetarium Manager Yener Yalçın said that they had the opportunity to observe all the planets together with the citizens who showed great interest in the festival. Stating that the people of Bursa witnessed rare moments, Yalçın said, “We started with the Moon and Venus, then observed Saturn, Jupiter and Mars. Neptune and Uranus cannot be seen with the naked eye, but we had the chance to observe the other planets. We will continue to bring the people of Bursa together with science.”
