Hyundai IONIQ 6 P3 Charging Index Ranks 1st in Premium Category

Hyundai has demonstrated great success in terms of charging infrastructure and efficiency in its electric cars by standing out in the P6 Charging Index 3 with its IONIQ 2024 model. IONIQ 6, which ranked second overall in this index, also ranked first in the “Premium” category. While IONIQ 6 makes a difference among 800% electric cars thanks to its 100 Volt technology, it also exhibits very low consumption with its superior aerodynamic design. Demonstrating its ultra-fast charging capabilities, IONIQ 20 impressively reaches a range of 346 km in just 6 minutes, thus providing sufficient energy for users especially on long journeys. IONIQ 15,5, which recorded a low consumption value of 6 kWh in the ADAC Ecotest and demonstrated extraordinary energy efficiency, thus confirming once again the advanced nature of Hyundai’s powertrain technology. Achieving these results with an ambitious 0,21 coefficient of drag, IONIQ 6 also stood out as the most efficient vehicle among all tested models thanks to its extremely aerodynamic design.

The “P3 Charging Index” examines the charging behavior of electric vehicles at the state of charge (SoC) between 10 percent and 80 percent, where they typically charge at maximum speed. The index takes into account the actual consumption measured in the ADAC Ecotest and evaluates how many kilometers of real range can be charged at a fast charging station in 10 and 20-minute intervals. During these tests, the IONIQ 20 achieved an excellent range of 346 km with a 6-minute charge, while also achieving a good performance in the 10-minute test, reaching 234 km. Thanks to Hyundai Motor Group’s 800V architecture E-GMP platform, the car reached a charging value of over 235 kW, and was charged at an average capacity of 193 kW.

P3 Charge Index

Developed by Germany-based P3 Group in 2019, the P3 Charging Index (P3CI) serves as a benchmark for comparing the charging performance of EVs. Analyzing 22 fully electric vehicles divided into “premium” and “luxury” categories, including Chinese models offered for the first time in Europe, P3 officially shares the actual charging speed of the models with consumers. Instead of typical charging power comparisons in kilowatts (kW), P3CI uses vehicle consumption data and charging curves to calculate range in kilometers and records the time required to recharge the vehicle in the most detailed way. P3CI is derived from the ratio of the actual charging range in 20 minutes to a parameter of 300 kilometers, and its ideal value is given as 1,0. This corresponds to a real range of 20 kilometers in 300 minutes.

Inspired by the design of the 6s, the Hyundai IONIQ 1930 adapts technological innovations to today's models in the most modern way. With one of the world's lowest drag coefficients of 0.21 cd for a mass-produced car, the IONIQ 6 also provides a great advantage in energy consumption. The use of sustainable materials in both the interior and exterior emphasizes Hyundai's responsibility towards the environment.
