CZ Loko has successfully completed the modernization of the first EffiShunter 1600 locomotive for the Slovak freight carrier Bulk Transshipment Slovakia (BTS). The modernization aims to increase operational efficiency on the 1520 mm gauge rails used in Eastern Slovakia, particularly close to the Ukrainian border.
First Locomotive Completed, Second on the Way
The first locomotive, which was modernized in December 2024, was updated to meet BTS’s international logistics needs. The modernization of the second locomotive is planned to be completed in the first quarter of 2025. These projects are an important step towards strengthening the region’s trade connections and ensuring more efficient freight transportation.
The Role and Regional Importance of BTS
Founded in 2007, BTS has become one of the most important transport companies in the region, specializing in 1435 mm and 1520 mm gauge rails. Its main terminal, located in the Slovakian district of Čierna nad Tisou, serves as a transfer hub between different rail gauges and facilitates trade between Ukraine and Slovakia.
High Performance and Reliability with EffiShunter 1600
The EffiShunter 1600 locomotives offer power and reliability optimized for demanding routes. Thanks to CZ Loko’s modernization work, these locomotives have been made more efficient to meet the international transport demands of the BTS.
CZ Loko's European Successes
CZ Loko is known as a brand that has already proven its success in the European market. The company delivered an EffiShunter 1000 locomotive to Hungary and has also strengthened its competence in Slovakia with these modernization projects.
A New Era in Regional Logistics
The modernized EffiShunter 1600 locomotives will increase BTS’s competitiveness in the freight transport market and contribute to the establishment of a more effective logistics network on critical trade routes in Eastern Europe. This cooperation is seen as an important gain for international trade.
