World's Largest Electric Transport Ship Being Built in China

China is leading the way towards a sustainable future with environmentally friendly ship projects and modern infrastructure in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.

Construction of the world's largest electric transport ship with a displacement weight of 10 tons has begun in Yichang, Hubei Province, according to a statement from China's Three Gorges Dam Group. The ship is expected to save 617,5 tons of fuel each year once it enters service.

In recent years, many environmentally friendly and green energy-powered ships have been put into service along the 70-kilometer Yangtze River. In addition, as of October, 11 ships in 17 provinces along the Yangtze River Economic Belt have renewed their electric charging infrastructure and built more than 10 new electric charging facilities.
