Washington Suspends Development Aid to Other Countries

US President Donald Trump has issued a new executive order suspending development aid to other countries for 90 days to analyze Washington's compliance and effectiveness with its policies.

“It is the policy of the United States to no longer allocate foreign assistance to countries that are inconsistent with the president’s foreign policy,” the executive order, posted on the White House website, said.

In this context, all development assistance to other countries was suspended for 90 days to evaluate the effectiveness of these programs.

The document states that the “U.S. foreign aid industry” is not aligned with American interests and, in many cases, American values.

After the review of the assistance programs, each of them can be continued, modified or cancelled. If the review does not reveal any violations or problems, the resumption of assistance can occur even before the 90 days are up.
