The Nuclear Power Plant Will Change the Face of Sinop

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said that the face of Sinop will change with the nuclear power plant. Minister Bayraktar stated that 30 thousand people will work in the construction of the nuclear construction site and said, “With this power plant, we will meet approximately 10 percent of Turkey’s electricity needs.”

Investigation in Inceburun

Minister Bayraktar made various contacts in Sinop. First, Bayraktar inspected the area where the new nuclear power plant will be built in İnceburun, then attended the AK Party Provincial Congress and addressed the citizens.

Red Apple of Energy

Bayraktar emphasized that Turkey's red apple in energy is complete independence and said, "Therefore, we must find all the resources in our country, our wind, sun, hydraulic resources, nuclear, natural gas and oil, produce them and add them to our economy."

Natural Gas to Erfelek and Ayancık

Bayraktar, who stated that they brought natural gas to 85 percent of the households in Turkey and that natural gas came to Sinop in 2016, said, “BOTAŞ will start the line work next week. We are also bringing natural gas to Erfelek and Ayancık as soon as possible.”

Crazy Turks Project

Bayraktar stated that they meet the natural gas needs of 3 million households in Turkey from the Sakarya Gas Field located in the Black Sea and said, “Our goal is to produce the gas we use in all our households as our own gas in 2028. Black Sea gas is a big project put forward by the AK Party under the leadership of our President. It is a crazy project, a project of crazy Turks.”

73 Thousand Barrels Daily

Bayraktar, who noted that they produce the most oil in Turkey today in Şırnak Gabar, which was once associated with terrorism, announced that the daily crude oil production in Gabar exceeded 73 thousand barrels.

70 Years of Dream

Bayraktar, stating that nuclear energy is Turkey’s 70-year dream, said, “Construction of 4 reactors simultaneously continues in Mersin Akkuyu. It is the world’s largest nuclear energy construction site. Hopefully, a similar one will be in Sinop. If Turkey absolutely wants to have uninterrupted energy and reduce its dependence on foreign natural gas, it absolutely has to have nuclear energy. In over 30 countries in the world, the majority of which are developed countries, European countries, America, Japan, China, there are over 400 power plants in these countries. Construction of 15 reactors in 63 countries is also ongoing.”

Walking Distance to Iğdır

Bayraktar, who asked those who are against nuclear energy, “How can we claim that we are safer when we do not build nuclear?”, said, “There is a nuclear power plant in Armenia, just walking distance from Iğdır. There is one in Bulgaria, there is one in Romania. France meets 75 percent of its energy from nuclear. There is no problem when they build it. With the nuclear power plant in Sinop, with 4 reactors, the face of Sinop will change.”

We will put it into operation as soon as possible

Bayraktar, explaining that the nuclear power plant in Sinop will provide employment for over 30 thousand people, said, “With this power plant, we will meet approximately 10 percent of Turkey’s electricity needs. Nuclear is an energy that the whole world continues to produce. We will not deprive our country of this. After Akkuyu, we will put Sinop and our power plant in Thrace into operation as soon as possible.”
