
Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Water and Sewerage Administration (SASKİ) announced that the Sapanca Lake basin has started to expand again after the recent rainfall. Following the rains effective as of Monday, January 13, there was an increase of 6 million cubic meters in the lake level in a week.
It rose 13 centimeters in a week
The lake, which rose from 30,13 to 30,26 levels, has seen an expansion in its basin after months. After the dry autumn, the pier and boats were left outside the basin. As a result of the rains that lasted for days, it was observed that the lake basin was approaching the pier and boats again.
The lake received 6 million cubic meters of water after the rains
Stating that Sapanca Lake received 6 million cubic meters of water with the recent rainfall, Mayor Yusuf Alemdar shared that the lake level rose by 13 centimeters and reached 30,26. Alemdar said, “Sapanca Lake is not only the apple of our city’s eye but also the region’s eye. Protecting our lake is one of the issues we focus on with sensitivity. We are also developing new projects and making the utmost effort to deliver our lake to future generations in the best way possible. We hope that the lake level will reach its maximum capacity with the precipitation continuing at this rate. As the Metropolitan Municipality, we will continue to protect our lake and protect our beauties.”
