More Effective Results with Robotic Systems in Physical Therapy

The introduction of “Robotic Technologies”, which have started to be used in physical therapy at Liv Hospital Vadistanbul, was realized in an event organized in cooperation with TAMEV. Famous names including Writer Şenay Devi, Artist Berkay, Hatice Gönül, Buse Turan, Eray Dinç, Cansu Özdemir, Kahraman Güler and Ali Tandoğan attended the event where the latest treatment methods and devices related to robotic rehabilitation were introduced and demonstrated in practice.

Bedridden patients can now take steps

Speaking at the event where the latest applications of technology in healthcare were introduced and experienced, Liv Hospital Vadistanbul General Manager Dr. Akif Benk said, “When you see the effects of robotic treatment methods that aim to return our patients to their daily lives in a wide range from neurology patients to stroke patients, from patients with orthopedic complaints to post-operative rehabilitation, you will not believe the results. It makes us incredibly happy that a patient who cannot walk can stand up and do their daily work after the robotic treatment process.” Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Specialist Dr. Muhsin Doran stated that smart applications have started in many fields of medicine and that robotic technologies are also used in the field of physical therapy, and that they can increase the quality of life of patients thanks to this. Sharing the situation of a patient who had an accident at the age of 19 and suffered serious damage to his pelvis and spine, Dr. Doran said the following regarding the treatment results: “Our patient could not move both legs and was bedridden. He was able to take steps after the physical therapy we applied after the surgeries. "If we had not used these treatment methods, we would have faced some consequences such as restrictions in his joints, pain during the treatment process and prolonged treatment. He did not experience any of these with the treatment we applied. Of course, there is still a way to go, but his independent quality of life has increased considerably."

Prof. Dr. Öztürk: “Our patients will say, ‘We are glad we have this technology.’”

Following the thank you speech of TAMEV Association Founding President Nuray Marçak, Liv Hospital Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist Prof. Dr. Çağatay Öztürk drew attention to the fact that many treatments in the field of health can be performed more accurately and effectively thanks to robots, and said, “The concept of personalized rehabilitation is more important today. Today, we see that many branches work together in robotic treatment. Such as physiotherapists, psychologists, physicians of relevant branches and language therapists… Our main goal with these robots is of course to be able to walk our patients, but collecting data about them and developing the technology is also a necessity. Not only using the robot, but also developing and modifying it are among the things we will do. At the end of the day, our patients will say, “Thank goodness we have this technology.”

Patients can regain motor functions

Robotic technologies, which have been used at Liv Hospital Vadistanbul and increase the effectiveness of the treatment, ensure that precise results are achieved. Robotic rehabilitation personalizes the treatment process by monitoring every movement the patient makes in detail and meticulously. Thus, better results are achieved with targeted exercises. Robotic treatment, which is also used to accelerate, individualize and monitor the rehabilitation process, allows the patient to regain their motor functions. During the robotic rehabilitation process, every movement the patient makes is monitored precisely and the data obtained is used to detect movement disorders and personalize the treatment processes. It offers targeted exercises to reorganize the patient's brain functions. These exercises activate the healthy parts of the brain and encourage the damaged area to take over its function.
