Kazakhstan to Invest $171 Million in Transportation Infrastructure

Kazakhstan is making a major investment push to strengthen its transport infrastructure. In line with the directives of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the country will invest a total of 9 trillion tenge (about $171 million) in transport infrastructure this year. These investments are aimed at modernizing Kazakhstan’s transport system and strengthening regional transport links.

New Airports and Resorts

One of the most notable investments in Kazakhstan’s transportation infrastructure will be the construction of new airports. New airports in resort areas such as Katon-Karagay, Zaysan and Kendirli will both stimulate local tourism and facilitate regional transportation. These projects will not only contribute to tourism, but also strengthen Kazakhstan’s international connections.

Renewing Roads by 2030

Kazakhstan aims to significantly improve its transportation infrastructure by 2030. In line with this goal, a 4700-kilometer road network will be renewed and transportation lines across the country will be modernized. With this project, intercity transportation will become more efficient and access to remote areas of the country will be facilitated. These investments aim to eliminate transportation problems, especially for citizens living in rural areas.

Modernization Process in Railway Transportation

Kazakhstan also attaches great importance to railway transport. The country will purchase 2025 new railway wagons by 225. This will make railway transport more efficient and faster. The modernization of railways will support both domestic transport and Kazakhstan's foreign trade. The new wagons will provide greater capacity for freight and passenger transport, making the country's railway network suitable for the modern world.

New Investments in Aktau Port

Kazakhstan is making significant investments in Aktau Port in order to develop maritime transport. The construction of a container center in the port is an important step that will facilitate maritime transport. With the investments to be made, the annual cargo capacity of Aktau Port will be increased to 240 thousand TEU. This will strengthen Kazakhstan's maritime transport infrastructure and enable the country's foreign trade to be conducted more effectively.

Kazakhstan aims to accelerate the country’s economic development and strengthen regional integration through major investments in transportation infrastructure. Investments in airports, roads, rail and maritime transport could make Kazakhstan the transportation hub of Central Asia. These projects, to be implemented by 2030, will promote both economic and social development.
