Cold and Rainy Weather to Be Effective in Istanbul Over the Weekend

According to the weekly weather forecast report dated January 10, 2025 published by the Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Affairs Department, cold and rainy weather will be effective in Istanbul starting from the weekend.

DAM FULL RATE AND SEA WATER TEMPERATURE

While the dam occupancy rate in Istanbul was measured as 41.75%, the sea water temperature was determined as 11°C. This rate is at a critical level compared to the winter season averages.

WEATHER AND FORECASTS

Today, air temperatures are expected to rise to 16°C in the afternoon and drop to 12°C in the evening. Feel-good temperatures will also remain in a similar range.

Heavy rain is expected across Istanbul and the Marmara Region starting Saturday.

While temperatures range between 15-18°C, sudden temperature drops and occasionally heavy showers may be seen.

WEEKLY FORECAST

Saturday, January 11: Heavy showers, temperature 7°C-10°C.

Sunday, January 12: Heavy rain, temperature 4°C-9°C.

Monday, January 13: Light rain, temperature 3°C-6°C.

Tuesday, January 14: Light rain, temperature 3°C-7°C.

Wednesday-Thursday, January 15-16: Air temperatures will vary between 2-8°C, and rain will continue lightly.

AKOM officials stated that people should be careful about disruptions in traffic and daily life due to the rains that will occur throughout the week. It was also emphasized that increasing dam filling rates with autumn and winter rains is of critical importance.
