Children from the Capital Go on a Historical Journey During the Mid-Term Break

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Women and Family Services Department and Culture and Social Affairs Department are organizing the “Ankara City Tour” program for students who are on semester break.

Students between the ages of 10-14, who are members of Family Life Centers, Youth Centers and Children's Clubs, will have a great time during their mid-term holidays by visiting the First Parliament, the Second Parliament and Ankara Castle.

Following the city tour program, painting, model making, writing and recycling workshops themed around Ankara's cultural heritage will be organized at the Family Life Centers, Youth Centers and Children's Clubs affiliated with the Department of Women and Family Services between February 3-8.

SARI: “WE HOST OUR CHILDREN IN OUR ANKARA CASTLE, IN THE FIRST AND SECOND PARLIAMENTS”

Ömer Faruk Sarı, Director of Tourism Branch of ABB Culture and Social Affairs Department, provided information about the organized trip and said, “Ankara is a city with a wide historical and cultural heritage extending from the Hittites to the Republic. In this sense, we are hosting our youth and children in our Ankara Castle, First and Second Parliament. As part of the program, we are taking them on this historical journey and supporting them to protect the historical and cultural heritage of Ankara, as well as giving them the opportunity to get to know Ankara’s Republic history more closely.”

Siray Kurt, Culture and Project Manager of ABB Women and Family Services Department, stated that they wanted to convey all the beauties of the city to the students and said:

“We are together with the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Women and Family Services Department and Culture and Social Affairs Department in partnership to enjoy the mid-term break with our children. We are organizing the Ankara City Tour with all Family Life Centers, Children's Clubs and Youth Center members in order to convey the cultural value of our capital to our children. We intend to convey all the beauties of our historical city to our students with the tour program that will last for 2 weeks.”

STUDENTS LEARN BY TRAVELING

Aynur Yıldırım, a student who participated in the tour program, said, “We went to the first parliament and learned about the history of these places. The tour was very nice and fun,” while another student named Perihan Çınar, who stated that she was in the 8th grade, said, “The tour was very nice. First we will visit the First Parliament and now the Second Parliament, it is going very well.”
