Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) continues to sign important organizations aimed at strengthening the Bursa business world in the international arena. In this context, BTSO ensured the participation of Bursa companies in the Heimtextil Fair, one of the largest fairs in the home textile sector. The organization, carried out by KFA Fair Organization, a subsidiary of BTSO, allowed Bursa home textile manufacturers to see innovations in the sector on site and develop new collaborations.
Turkish Participation in Heimtextil Fair is Rising
This year, 242 Turkish companies participated in the Heimtextil Fair held in Frankfurt, Germany. It was stated that 89 of these companies were based in Bursa. Turkey ranked fourth in the number of participating companies and first in terms of square meter size. This success once again demonstrated the strong presence of the Turkish textile sector in the international arena. The fair, which was also attended by BTSO's 5th and 30th Professional Committee members, created great business opportunities for Bursa companies.
İbrahim Burkay Emphasizing the Resilience of the Turkish Textile Industry
BTSO Board Chairman İbrahim Burkay stated that the Turkish textile sector has remained strong despite the difficult economic conditions. Stating that 2024 was a difficult year for the textile sector, Burkay stated that increasing costs and low exchange rates had negative effects on exports, but expressed his belief that the Turkish textile sector would overcome these difficulties with its innovative approach. Burkay also emphasized that Turkey would continue to be one of the most important production and export centers in the world in the home textile sector.
Contraction in Fairs in Europe Offers Opportunity to Turkey
Stating that the contraction in fairs in Europe in recent years has made fairs organized in Turkey more attractive, Burkay said that Turkey's home textile fair HOMETEX has grown and attracted more attention internationally. He said he believes HOMETEX will become a much stronger brand in 2025. Burkay's statements reflect an approach that reinforces the advantage of the Turkish textile sector in global competition.
Made In Türkiye Perception is Strengthening in the Home Textile Industry
BTSO 5th Professional Committee Chairman Davut Gürkan stated that despite the significant decrease in the participation of Turkish companies in the Heimtextil Fair, the Turkish home textile sector is in a strong position in global markets. Gürkan stated that the perception of “Made in Turkey” is gradually strengthening and Turkish companies are becoming a sought-after manufacturer worldwide. He emphasized that Turkish companies set the sector trends and continue to lead the sector with their quality production.
Visa Policies and the Impact of Global Crisis
BTSO Assembly Member Burak Anıl stated that one of the reasons for the decrease in the number of visitors at the Heimtextil Fair was Germany's strict visa policies. Anıl stated that many customers from the Middle East and Russia could not attend the fair due to visa problems, and drew attention to the fact that local fairs such as HOMETEX should be organized more comprehensively in order to turn this situation to Turkey's advantage. Anıl stated that fast production and fast delivery have gained importance in this process and that Turkish companies should make preparations to gain a competitive advantage in this area.
From Bursa to Germany, New Collaborations Are Opening the Way
BTSO's organizational contribution to the Heimtextil Fair has presented great opportunities for home textile companies in Bursa. Home textiles, an important sector of Bursa's economy, are gaining the chance to grow by following a rising trend in the global market. In this process, developing strategies that will strengthen the place of Turkish companies in the world market provides significant gains for both Bursa and Turkey.
Heimtextil Fair showed that the Turkish home textile sector continues to have a strong presence in the international market. BTSO's contributions and Bursa companies' international successes reinforce Turkey's advantages in global competition in the home textile sector. In the future, local fairs are expected to grow even more and Turkish manufacturers are expected to take a larger share of global trade.
