The “Young Women Protecting Their Cultural Heritage for Sustainable Development” project, implemented by the International Association of Women in Sustainable Development (USKD), was approved by the Ministry of Interior.
USKD Board of Directors Chairwoman Ayla Alkan and board members met with İzmir Deputy Governor Mehmet Sadık Tunç and Provincial Civil Society Relations Director Turgay Esen; the protocol was signed and entered into force.
President Ayla Alkan said that with this project, they aim to ensure that young women who are not in education and employment (NEET) can both protect the cultural heritage and contribute to sustainable development goals.
AN IMPORTANT STEP FOR WOMEN'S EMPLOYMENT
Providing information about the project they prepared to bring the female workforce into the economy, Alkan said, “With this project, we aim to provide young women who are not in education and employment with a profession in creative sectors in order to strengthen themselves socially and economically. The target audience of the project consists of 21 young women between the ages of 29-15 and 25 young women who are USKD members between the ages of 35-5. By introducing the cultural heritage of İzmir on digital platforms, we will ensure that young women receive training in areas such as art history, digital photography, creative writing, digital content production and social media management. After the training, the participants will produce content on the historical and cultural heritage of İzmir and these contents will be evaluated with a competition. At the end of the project, successful content will be shared at national and international levels and sustainability will be ensured, supporting young women to find jobs in creative sectors. Our project also aims to create cooperation with local governments, universities and NGOs, create social awareness and long-term impact.”
IT ALSO INCLUDES UNITED NATIONS TARGETS
The Chair of the Board of Directors Ayla Alkan finally said the following: “We have adopted the Sustainable Development Goals, which are accepted by 193 member countries of the United Nations and consist of 17 headings. In line with this, we will establish partnerships to ensure inclusive and equitable education for all and to promote lifelong education opportunities for all, to ensure gender equality and to strengthen the social positions of women and girls, to ensure sustainable and inclusive economic development, to spread full and productive employment and jobs worthy of human dignity, to strengthen implementation tools and to enliven global cooperation for sustainable development and to implement this project.”
