The Mobile Barista Bus, which was sent on the road by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality to provide young people with vocational skills in coffee preparation and serving, was at the Aşık Veysel Youth Center. The second stop of the bus will be the Çiğli Youth Center.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues to deliver its projects to all corners of the city for the youth to be included in employment. The Mobile Barista Bus prepared by the Vocational Factory Branch Directorate met with those interested in baristas at the Aşık Veysel Youth Center in Bornova. 4 different free workshops were organized on the bus. The young people between the ages of 15-30 who participated in the training had fun as well as receiving training. The second stop of the Mobile Barista Bus will be Çiğli Youth Center on December 9-10-11. Students will receive training in two groups between 13.30-16.30 and 17.30-20.30.
“There is a lot of demand”
Berna Yurdusev, who is the head of education at the Young Izmir Unit affiliated with the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, stated that they organized a mobile barista workshop to include young people in employment and said, “We currently have 30 participants. There are also substitutes, and there is a lot of demand. Young people receive accelerated barista training here. They both have fun and learn how to be a barista. They receive information about world coffees. We started at the Aşık Veysel Recreation Area. The other one will be at the Çiğli Youth Center.”

Rabia Deniz, who provides barista training at the Vocational Factory Branch Directorate, stated that they provided 12-hour training on a mobile barista bus and that they also promoted the 159-hour courses they held at the Vocational Factory. Rabia Deniz said, “Students learn the entire process from soil to cup. They get to know first, second and third generation coffees. The longest of these courses ends with a MEB-approved certificate at the Vocational Factory. At the end of the 159-hour training, they receive a document that is valid abroad. We bring our students together with jobs with the program we have created to end youth unemployment. We are trying to do our best to provide them all with job opportunities. As the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, we stand by our youth.”

Mihrimah Aktop, who participated in the training program, said, “I am a gastronomy student. I think it will contribute to my profession. I really wanted to attend such courses. Gamze Dilan Şipal said that she took part in the course to be successful in her career. Sıla Uzer, who said that she learned about the course through social media, said, “I wanted to get barista training. I am a gastronomy student, I thought it could contribute to my education. I want to open my own business after I graduate. I would like to thank the Metropolitan Municipality.”
