Dress Code Changes in Schools

“Regulation on Amendments to the Regulation on Dress Code and Attire for Students in Schools Affiliated to the Ministry of National Education” was published in the Official Gazette.

Accordingly, school uniforms for students in primary, secondary and high schools will be determined by the school principal, after consulting the board of directors of the parent-teacher association and the teachers at the teachers' meeting to be held at the beginning of the second term, without including restrictive details such as special signs, prints and patterns.

The determined school uniform image will be published on the school website and cannot be changed before 4 academic years have passed.

When school uniforms are changed, students in intermediate grades will be able to continue wearing their current school uniforms until they move on to the next level of education.

Special clothing that will create a financial burden on the parent will not be purchased.
The school uniform determined will be economical, plain, practical, easily obtainable and in accordance with the basic principles for general and special purposes included in Law No. 1739 and will comply with pedagogical principles.

Students who have a health disability and document this condition will be able to wear clothing required by their disability.

Special clothing that will create a financial burden on parents will not be purchased for use on special days, weeks, celebrations, and in-class or extracurricular activities.

There will be no approach or guidance by school-family associations regarding the supply of school uniforms that violates the terms of clothing sales and free competition.

Students will wear aprons, overalls or appropriate clothing for the work being done in workshops, workshops, laboratories and workplaces, with the approval of the school administration, depending on the nature of the program they study.
