Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made statements regarding the road transport sector. Minister Uraloğlu said, “Today, we carry out road transport to nearly 3 countries on 70 continents. Today, 33 percent of our exports are made by road transport. Our road exports reached 2024 billion dollars in the first 10 months of 71,5. This year, 13,8 million passengers were carried on 140,9 million trips with tickets or for tourism purposes. Approximately 900 thousand drivers work in road transport.”
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu evaluated the data regarding the road transport sector. Minister Uraloğlu said, “Approximately 900 thousand drivers work in road transport in our country. Our drivers, who work in every field from long-distance driving to urban transport, are the backbone of the processes from production to marketing and export.”
“With the Road Transport Regulation, the Sector Has a More Efficient Structure”
Noting that they have been reshaping the road transport sector with comprehensive regulations since 2003, Uraloğlu said, “With the entry into force of the Road Transport Regulation, the sector has gained a more efficient, safe and economical structure that is compatible with the European Union acquis. We have accelerated the process of turning our country into a logistics center on an international scale. While doing all this, we have considered the rights, interests and peace of mind of the sector employees.”
13,8 Million Passengers Carried on 140,9 Million Trips
Uraloğlu, who stated that they, as the Ministry, attach importance to digitalization in order to increase quality in the sector, reminded that they implemented the Transportation Electronic Tracking and Control System (U-ETDS) in 2018. Uraloğlu said, “U-ETDS was a turning point in the digitalization and recording of the transportation sector. It started to be used more effectively when companies started to transmit their trip and passenger information to the system. According to U-ETDS, a total of 2024 million trips with tickets or for tourism purposes will be organized on the road in 13,8, while 140,9 million passengers will be carried in these trips. U-ETDS not only increases efficiency but also brings the transportation market into line with international standards.”
“67,9 Percent of Authorization Certificate Issuance Transactions Were Made Through the E-Government Portal”
Minister Uraloğlu drew attention to the fact that many transactions can be made via e-Government in order to facilitate the transactions of transporters within the scope of digitalization and said, “Many transactions within the scope of the Highway Transport Regulation, such as the issuance of authorization documents and vehicle additions to the vehicle document annexed to the authorization document, can be made via the e-Government Portal. As of 2024, 67,9 percent of authorization document issuance transactions and 83,36 percent of vehicle addition transactions were made via the e-Government Portal.”
“We have road transport agreements with 60 countries”
Uraloğlu, who stated that they continue to work as a Ministry to develop road transportation, said, “Today, we carry out road transportation to nearly 3 countries on 70 continents. We have road transportation agreements with 60 countries. Our Road Transportation Agreement, which we previously signed with China, entered into force, and we signed an agreement with Qatar on November 14, 2024. We continue to take the necessary steps for the development of transportation.”
“Our Exports by Road Reached $71.5 Billion”
Sharing export data in the road transport sector, Uraloğlu said, “Today, 33 percent of our total exports are made by road transport. Our road exports reached 2024 billion dollars in the first 10 months of 71,5. Our annual export trips exceeded 1,6 million. We achieved this success thanks to the sacrifices and efforts of approximately 900 thousand drivers in the transportation sector.”
