Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that Turkish Airlines will start two new flights to Australia and Chile. Minister Uraloğlu said, “As of tomorrow, Istanbul-Sydney flights will start. With the Istanbul-Santiago flight, THY will also fly to Chile for the first time.” Noting that flights are planned for both destinations 4 days a week, Uraloğlu said, “Our flight network, which has reached 348 points with Sydney, will increase to 349 with the start of Santiago flights.”
Uraloğlu recalled that the General Directorate of Civil Aviation held talks with many countries regarding determining intermediate points in line with THY’s request to start flights to Sydney, Australia. Minister Uraloğlu said, “We have reached an agreement with Malaysia. As of tomorrow, THY’s Istanbul-Sydney flights will start with a stopover in Kuala Lumpur. After the Melbourne flights it started this year, THY will start flying to Sydney and serve a second destination in Australia.”
Flights Scheduled 4 Days a Week
Noting that the flights will be operated from Istanbul Airport on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, Uraloğlu said, “The plane will first stop at Kuala Lumpur Airport, the capital of Malaysia, and refuel. After spending 70 minutes there, it will continue its flight to Sydney. The first plane will take off from Istanbul Airport at 13.15:16.30 and land at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport at 20.40:10.15 the next day. The plane that will depart from Sydney will take off at XNUMX:XNUMX and land at Istanbul Airport at XNUMX:XNUMX the next day.”
“THY Will Operate Flights to Chile for the First Time”
Minister Uraloğlu stated that THY will start operating four flights per week on the Istanbul-Santiago route as of December 18, 2024, and said, “Our country’s flag carrier THY will first complete its flights from Istanbul to Chile by flying to Sao Paulo, Brazil, and then to Santiago, the capital of Chile. Thus, THY will be flying to Chile for the first time.”
Noting that the flights will be made from Istanbul on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, Uraloğlu continued his words as follows:
“The Sao Paulo layover flights will depart from Istanbul at 20.35:09.45 and arrive in Santiago at 11.40:11.20. The return flights will depart from Santiago at 348:349 and land at Istanbul Airport at XNUMX:XNUMX. Our flight network, which has reached XNUMX destinations with Sydney, will increase to XNUMX with the start of the Santiago flights.”
