South Africa-based DCD Protected Mobility introduced a new variant, the Springbuck Standard Duty (SD) armored vehicle, at the Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) 2024 fair. This model, called the “Double Cab,” was designed to integrate with various weapon systems and was exhibited with the Alkar 120 mm mortar system developed by ASELSAN.
Springbuck SD Double Cab
The Springbuck SD is a mine-resistant vehicle designed to provide a balance between protection and mobility in a variety of operational environments. The vehicle’s armour level is rated EN 1522 Level B6, providing resistance to small arms fire. Boasting comprehensive ballistic and blast protection for passenger safety during missions, the Springbuck SD offers seating for up to five people in a 2+2 configuration and an additional standing gunner position.
ALKAR 120 mm Mortar System
The ALKAR 120 mm Mortar Weapon System is a modern weapon system originally designed by ASELSAN. It is equipped with automatic barrel guidance, automatic ammunition loading, recoil mechanism and fire control systems. This system offers an effective range of up to 8.000 meters, allowing for precise engagement with rapid fire capabilities and advanced targeting systems.
