
Along Vietnam's northern coastline, preparations are being made for the aftermath of a super typhoon that hit the Chinese resort island of Hainan, one of the country's neighbouring islands, on Friday.
More than 3.000 people were evacuated in Quang Ninh province, while 158 schools in Hai Phong were closed or converted into shelters, according to Vietnamese state television.
In Nam Dinh, more than 5 boats with 700 crew members were transferred to other areas, while 7 families in poorly constructed areas in Thai Binh province were evacuated.
The typhoon's wind speed is expected to reach 245 kilometers per hour.
On the other hand, the US Embassy in Hanoi also warned US citizens about Typhoon Yagi.
