Alstom continues its leadership in global mobility and, in this context, announced the appointment of Tristan le Masne as Managing Director of Alstom South Africa, based in Johannesburg. Le Masne will replace Bernard Peille, who was working in Alstom's Latin America region, and will be responsible for the management and strategic oversight of Alstom's portfolio in South Africa.
Strategic Role in South Africa
Tristan le Masne will provide strategic oversight of Alstom's four key businesses in South Africa. These organizations include Gibela Rail joint venture (JV), Alstom Rolling Stock South Africa JV, Bombela Maintenance JV and Alstom Ubunye. In this role, Le Masne will play a key role in strengthening Alstom's presence in Southern Africa and supporting regional growth.
Andrew DeLeone, Regional President, Alstom Africa, Middle East and Central Asia (AMECA), said he was pleased to announce Tristan's role leading the South African team. “Over the last decade, we have experienced a transformational period in South Africa,” DeLeone said. We are focused on integrating state-of-the-art train manufacturing processes, advanced operations management and maintenance technologies. In the process, our commitment to localization has spurred job creation while also improving service quality. “Tristan has been a valued member of our leadership team for five years and will further strengthen our vision for the region with his experience on the Gibela Rail Board,” he said.
Career and Experience of Tristan le Masne
Tristan le Masne joined Alstom in 2009 and has held various leadership positions during this time. In his previous roles, he served as Vice President of Finance for Alstom's AMECA region and as Vice President of Internal Audit and Internal Control in Paris, France. Tristan, who holds a Master's degree in Management, is recognized by Alstom as a respected leader with a range of leadership competencies.
Le Masne expressed that he is excited about the opportunity to lead the South African operations and looks forward to contributing to the modernization of the country's railway sector during this period. “Our powerful presence is not just instrumental; serving as the driving force behind the modernization of the rail industry and inspiring meaningful change. “Together with our talented team in South Africa, we aim to build local talent and produce greener, smarter and safer mobility solutions,” he said.
