Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared with the public the results of the “WELL-8” operations carried out in 21 provinces. Within the scope of these operations, 18 suspects who were wanted by INTERPOL’s Red Notice and Diffusion Message (Urgent Capture Message) in 25 different countries were caught.
Minister Yerlikaya said in his statement, “I want our dear nation to know that no matter what bulletin they are called with, we will never give a break to international organized crime organizations, migrant smuggling organizers and drug dealers who disturb the peace of our people. They will all fall into the wells they have dug.”
In his post on his social media account, Minister Yerlikaya also included the following important information:
- Under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security Intelligence Directorate, KOM Directorate and Interpol Europol Department Directorate;
- Through the Provincial Police Departments KOM Branch Directorates and the Istanbul Anti-Smuggling and Border Gates Branch Directorate;
- Operations were carried out in a total of 8 provinces: Antalya, Bursa, Istanbul, Izmir, Mersin, Sakarya, Samsun and Trabzon.
As a result of these operations, 18 individuals with wanted records from 25 countries including Germany, Australia, Azerbaijan, Morocco, Netherlands, Iraq, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Republic of Korea, Mongolia, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Russia, Syria, Turkmenistan and Jordan were caught.
It was determined that the suspects detained during the operations had search records for the following crimes:
- Establishing or Being a Member of an Organization for the Purpose of Committing a Crime
- Drug Trafficking
- Willful Murder
- Deprivation of Liberty
- Sexual Crimes
- Forgery of Official Documents
- Fraud
- Money Laundering
- Human Trafficking
- Immigrant Smuggling
The individuals wanted by INTERPOL were identified and captured in our country as a result of the meticulous investigations of the Police. The captured suspects were handed over to the Provincial Directorates of Immigration Administration and deportation procedures were immediately initiated.
Minister Yerlikaya congratulated the heroic police officers who carried out the operations and said, "May God not let any stone touch their feet. Our nation's prayers are with you."
