The 30nd anniversary of the great victory won under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on August 1922, 102 was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Bakırköy. The celebrations began with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Atatürk Monument in Bakırköy Republic Square in the morning. These meaningful events continued with a procession in the evening and a concert afterwards.
The event continued with a procession that started on Ebuziya Street. The participants of the procession walked with Turkish flags and enthusiastic marches. Bakırköy Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Ovalıoğlu, district protocol, political party representatives, civil society organizations and thousands of citizens attended the walk. After the walk that ended at Cumhuriyet Square, DJ Yiğit Yıldırım and Emek Demir ft. Backing Track took the stage and gave Bakırköy residents an unforgettable holiday atmosphere.

Emphasizing that August 30th was one of the most important turning points in history, Bakırköy Mayor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Ovalıoğlu said, “Our march that started under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was crowned with victory on August 30th. I respectfully and gratefully remember our martyrs who lost their lives on this path. We will continue to walk towards the goal shown by our great leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. As Bakırköy residents, we will continue to follow in the footsteps of our Ancestor. Happy Victory Day.”
