Things that Foreign Licensed Vehicles Coming to Turkey Should Pay Attention to

The Ministry of Commerce announced the precautions that must be taken to prevent citizens who want to come to Turkey and citizens of other countries from experiencing any inconvenience when entering Turkey.

In the statement, it was stated that the procedures of citizens coming to Turkey and citizens of other countries without being kept waiting at the land customs gates were placed among the priorities of the Ministry and the necessary measures were taken, and the Ministry expressed welcome wishes to all guests who want to visit the country.

The Ministry of Commerce warned citizens who want to come to Turkey and citizens of other countries to pay attention to the following points in order to avoid any inconvenience when entering Turkey:

"You can easily enter your and your vehicle's information into the 'Vehicle Pre-Declaration Application', which can be accessed through the 'E-Transactions' menu on the website of our Ministry or the 'e-Government Gateway', via your mobile phone, tablet or computer before your trip. Since the information you enter into the application will be automatically transferred to our systems, your registration process will be completed in a short time after the customs officer checks and approves the information.

Make sure that you have been abroad for at least 185 days within the last year from the date you will enter our country. It is possible to query this situation via e-government.

When entering our country, the driver's license and passport of the person bringing the vehicle or the identity document replacing the passport must be presented.

If you enter with a foreign passport, a maximum of 90 days is given, excluding the residence permit. Turkish citizens, dual citizens or blue card holders are given 730 days for their vehicles if they enter with their IDs or passports appropriate to their status.

When entering our country, it is mandatory to present the vehicle's insurance policy valid in Turkey and the vehicle's license.

In order to benefit from the conveniences provided to retirees abroad, do not forget to take your retirement certificate with a Turkish translation approved by the consulate or embassy.

”If you arrive with a vehicle registered in someone else's name, a valid power of attorney must be presented.

If you want to leave the vehicle in Turkey and go abroad within the given period, the vehicle must be delivered to the customs administration or a letter of undertaking stating that the vehicle will not be used by anyone else must be given. Otherwise, an administrative fine will be imposed. This commitment can be given by applying to the nearest customs office or by using the "Issuing and Removing Commitment for Going Abroad Without a Vehicle" service on e-Government.

Temporarily imported vehicle; Provided that the right holder is in Turkey, it can be used by the spouse, mother, father and children of this person whose place of residence is outside the Turkish Customs Territory.

Please remember that if the vehicle is used by unauthorized persons after being brought to our country or if it is not taken abroad within the time limit, you will face criminal sanctions.”
