
Spor Istanbul, a subsidiary of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), continues to bring the star athletes of the future to Turkish sports. 33 more athletes who competed in the Development League Final held last month received invitations from their clubs.
The Development League, where talented children are recruited from the Sports Schools opened by IBB Sports Istanbul in 2020, continues to provide athletes to the clubs. In the Spor Istanbul 1.015th Development League, which was held last month and in which a total of 4 athletes participated, 33 more people received infrastructure invitations from the clubs.
INVITATION FROM FENERBAHÇE AND BEŞİKTAŞ
While Fenerbahçe Sports Club invited 6 athletes from the athletics branch, Beşiktaş invited 3 athletes from the football branch. Fatih Karagümrük Sports Club also invited 18 athletes from the football branch to its youth team. İBBSK appreciated a total of 8 athletes, 3 from athletics and 11 from volleyball. Two clubs each applied for 5 of these athletes. Thus, the number of athletes joining clubs from the Sports Istanbul Development League reached 725 in total.
THE SECOND YOUNGEST FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE SUPER LEAGUE IS FROM SPORTS ISTANBUL
One of the names who took the first steps of his professional sports career in Spor Istanbul is Kasımpaşa Sports Club football player Bünyamin Çetinkaya. Bünyamin Çetinkaya, who took the field in the Kasımpaşa-Antalyaspor match played on May 12, 2024, made history as the second youngest football player to play in the Super League, at the age of 14 years, 8 months and 4 days.
