A Market in Nilüfer that Brings Profit to Both Farmers and Citizens

Nilüfer Municipality brings 'producer markets', which it has implemented to support local producers and provide citizens with direct access to products, to both farmers and consumers. Producer markets, held four days a week in four different neighborhoods of Nilüfer, bring producers and consumers together without intermediaries. Farmers who set up stalls at the producer markets held every week in Görükle on Tuesdays, Konak on Wednesdays, Çamlıca on Saturdays and Karaman on Sundays have the opportunity to sell the products they grow in their fields without any intermediaries or boards, while citizens have access to the freshest products.

NATURAL AND FRESH PRODUCTS ARE DIRECTLY TO THE CONSUMER

Nilüfer Mayor Şadi Özdemir visited the producer market established in Konak District and walked around the stalls one by one, and paid close attention to the problems and demands of both citizens and farmers.

Underlining that, as Nilüfer Municipality, they will continue to support domestic producers by increasing the added value and efficiency in agriculture, Mayor Şadi Özdemir emphasized that they will continue their work to revitalize agriculture and get the reward of the farmers' labor. Noting that producer markets are a good example that serves this goal, Lider Özdemir said:

“In our producer markets, our farmers bring the vegetables and fruits they produce in their fields directly to the counter and offer fresh products to our citizens. We strictly do not allow bringing products from outside to the producer markets. If such a situation is detected, we cancel the licenses of the relevant persons to open a stall. In this way, we also support our local farmers.”

During his visit, Mayor Şadi Özdemir was also a guest at the table set by the market tradesmen and chatted with them for a while.

RENTAL PRICE IS NOT RECEIVED FROM THE MANUFACTURER

Farmers also expressed their satisfaction that Nilüfer Municipality does not demand any rent, electricity and water prices from local producers who set up stalls in producer markets.
