While temperatures are expected to rise above 35 degrees, IMM Disaster Affairs Department AKOM warned Istanbulites not to stay under the sun between 11.00 and 16.00. AKOM also pointed out that hot and dry weather can increase the risk of forest fire to high levels.
According to the latest meteorological assessment made by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Disaster Affairs Department AKOM, Istanbul and the western and southern regions of the country are under the influence of air waves originating from Africa and Basra. According to forecasts, temperatures will be above 35 degrees starting from today. Temperatures at sweltering levels are expected to continue throughout the week.
AKOM warned that the elderly, sick, pregnant and children should not stay under the sun for a long time, especially between 11.00 and 16.00, when the heat is most effective. AKOM also pointed out the hot and dry weather and warned that the risk of forest fire increased.
