
Customs Enforcement teams of the Ministry of Commerce seized 58 kilograms of opium gum at Esendere Customs Gate, 226 kilograms of marijuana in Kapıkule, and 73 kilograms of methamphetamine-type drugs in Dilucu.
According to the statement made by the Ministry, Ministry of Commerce Customs Enforcement teams carried out drug operations at Esendere, Kapıkule and Dilucu Customs Gates.
In the first operation, a suspicious truck was followed by the Ministry of Commerce Esendere Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate teams as it was about to enter Turkey. The first checks were carried out on the truck carrying a cargo of raisins in transit through Türkiye. After the scanning performed on the vehicle, which was sent for x-ray scanning by the teams, some suspicious images were detected. Thereupon, a detailed search was carried out by the Customs Enforcement teams using narcotic detector dogs.
During the meticulous search carried out by the Customs Enforcement teams, drug packages professionally hidden inside the cardboard boxes of raisins were detected. When all the grape boxes were checked, a total of 58 kilograms of opium gum-type drugs hidden in cardboard were seized.
In the second operation of the teams, a truck arriving at Kapıkule Customs Gate to enter Turkey was deemed suspicious and was closely monitored by the Customs Enforcement Narcotics Units.
Following the initial checks of the Customs Enforcement teams, a suspicious density was detected in the vehicle, which was x-ray scanned. As a result of a detailed search in the tow truck and trailer of the vehicle, approximately 226 kilograms of marijuana were seized in aluminum foil packages hidden in the legal cargo carried in the trailer of the truck.
The last operation of the Customs Enforcement teams of the Ministry of Commerce was carried out against a truck loaded with "goat hair" arriving at the Dilucu Customs Gate.
First of all, the vehicle was deemed risky and was sent for x-ray scanning. After expert x-ray operators detected suspicious density in the truck, a detailed search was carried out by Customs Enforcement teams.
After the narcotic detection dogs reacted to the goat hair load, samples were taken from the goods and tested. As a result of the test, 73 kilograms of methamphetamine type drugs mixed with goat hair were seized.
As a result of the operations of the Customs Enforcement teams of the Ministry of Commerce, 357 kilograms of drugs of different types were seized, and an investigation was launched before the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the incidents.
