Those who loved Ahmet Piriştina, who passed away due to a heart attack in 2004 while serving as the Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, did not forget. The late president was commemorated at his grave in Lower Narlıdere Cemetery on the 20th anniversary of his death. Speaking at the commemoration program, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay said, "Those we lost do not come back, but I think there are many lessons we can learn from the legacy they left us."

Ahmet Piriştina, the unforgettable mayor of Izmir, who passed away in 2004 at the age of 52, was commemorated at his grave on the anniversary of his death. Commemoration ceremony at Lower Narlıdere Cemetery; Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay, Ahmet Piriştina's daughter Zeynep Piriştina, his son Levent Piriştina and his daughter-in-law Ahu Piriştina, Ahmet Piriştina's grandchildren Damla Piriştina, Mia Subaşı, Narlıdere Mayor Erman Uzun, Konak Mayor Nilüfer Çınarlı Mutlu, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Dr. Zafer Levent Yıldır, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Council Deputy Chairman Altan İnanç, Piriştina's close colleagues and former Konak Mayor Erdal İzgi and his fans attended.

Tugay: I think there are many lessons we can learn from the legacy he left us.

Even if 100 years pass, we will not forget him. Unfortunately, we also lost Mine Piriştina this year. May they rest in peace. Seeing the two of them lying side by side gives us peace, and at the same time it doubles our sadness. What we lost does not come back, but I think there are many lessons we can learn from the legacy they left us. Maybe we can chart our own path with those lessons. I hope we will be remembered as such honorable people again. "Their family is our family and also the family of Izmir," he said.

Ahmet Piriştina's son, Levent Piriştina, said: “The years pass quickly, 20 years are easy to say. Thanks to you, we saw that we were not alone today, just like 20 years ago, that what was done was not forgotten and that the people of Izmir never left him alone. We got through this process together. This year things got harder for us, so we sent our mother to him. I think we will overcome these difficulties together. "From now on, let them sleep together, in the light and light," he said.
