National Athletics Squad Returns from Rome with Medals

Turkey National Athletics Team, under the main sponsorship of Turkcell, won one silver and one bronze medal at the European Athletics Championships held in Rome, the capital of Italy, between 7-12 June.

Tuğba Danışmanz achieved a first for Turkey in the triple jump and achieved the success of winning a medal in this section for the first time after 74 years. Danışmanz, who achieved his best time with his jump of 14.57, won the silver medal. In the pole vault, our national athlete Ersu Şaşma won the first medal for our country with a jump of 5.82 meters and wore the bronze medal.

Previously, 26 of our athletes, including Ersu Şaşma, had received quotas for the Olympics to be held in Paris, the capital of France, between 16 July and 5 August. Tuğba Danışmanz, who came 400th in the triple jump at the European Athletics Championships, and Berke Akçam, who came 5th in the XNUMX meters hurdles race, also earned the right to participate in the Olympics with the results they achieved.
