Support for Female Driver Employment from ESHOT

The "Drive to Equality - Female Driver Employment" project prepared by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality ESHOT General Directorate was accepted in the parliament. In accordance with the grant agreement to be signed between ESHOT and the French Development Agency, 100 thousand euros of support will be transferred to Izmir.

The "Drive to Equality - Female Driver Employment" project, prepared by ESHOT General Directorate in order to ensure gender equality in the public transportation sector and the greater participation of women in this sector, was also brought to the agenda at the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Council. In accordance with the article accepted unanimously, ESHOT will sign a grant agreement with the French Development Agency (AFD) to implement the project. AFD will support the project with a grant of up to 100 thousand euros.

A new era begins for female drivers

The project will aim to break down existing prejudices in society, encourage women and ensure that the public transportation sector is included in their career plans. In this context, a campaign will be organized to raise awareness among women who want to become drivers and in society. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality website and İZELMAN A.Ş. For female driver candidates who apply via: 'Female Driver Academy' will be established to provide theoretical, technical, practical and field training in cooperation with universities and driving schools. Finally, it is also planned to organize a symposium to share project experiences with other cities, receive suggestions and prepare an academic publication with the data obtained.

The number of female drivers exceeded 200

On the other hand, the number of female drivers within ESHOT General Directorate increased to 202 with the latest recruitments. Thus, the 200 target of 2024 was reached. The institution will continue to employ female drivers who meet the appropriate criteria and successfully pass the training and examination processes.
