9-Day Holiday Stimulated Tourism

Eid al-Adha activity is experienced in tourism. Flight ticket sales and hotel reservations are flooded by people who want to make the most of their 9-day holiday.

According to ENUYGUN's information, Antalya was the city where the most tickets were purchased and the city with the most hotel reservations in the country. While visa-free countries where travel planning is easier abroad were preferred, Tirana ranked first.

HUGE INCREASE IN FLIGHT TICKETS

While domestic flight ticket sales increased by 40 percent during Eid al-Adha, Antalya ranked first in sales. Antalya was followed by Trabzon, Diyarbakır, Van and Bodrum, respectively. Tirana was at the top in international flight ticket sales, followed by Podgorica and Pristina. These destinations took the first three places because it is easier to plan a trip to places that can be visited without a visa.

Hotel reservations increased by 9 percent compared to the previous week after the 82-day holiday decision was announced. While the increase in the duration of accommodation during the holiday was also noteworthy, with the effect of the 9-day holiday decision, those who planned to have a holiday in destinations close to the city turned to the coastline and the average duration of stay increased from 3,8 days to 4,7 days. The three routes recognized for hotel reservations are Antalya, Bodrum and Izmir.

Orkun Özkan, one of the sector representatives, stated that the tickets are about to run out as there is very little time left for the holiday to start.

Stating that there is a high demand especially for coastal cities with the sudden rise in temperatures this year, Özkan warned, "There are two days left for the holiday and if you are thinking of traveling, buy your ticket quickly, because the probability of finding a ticket decreases every time you are late."
