In the statement made in Edirne on February 25, 2024, Higher Education Council Leader Erol Özvar stated that a research and application center will be established where they will focus on "Edirne red" and "Edirne rose". Özvar touched upon the value of universities investing more in prominent areas and emphasized that Trakya University has an important capacity in this regard. He stated that “Edirne red” could be turned into an industrial product, especially with studies at the university. He also stated that with the establishment of the research and application center on Edirne red, scientists from different disciplines will come together and continue their studies. He stated that this center will contribute to the promotion and use of Edirne red in various fields such as weaving, chemistry, health and cosmetics. Özvar announced that a research and application center will be established on the "Edirne rose". Both centers are planned to be established this year. Trakya University is expected to take steps to establish these centers by applying to the Council of Higher Education.
