The municipality carries out cleaning activities with 815 personnel, 159 pressure road washing and floor sweeping vehicles, and collects nearly 20 tons of waste from the streets daily.

The team, consisting mostly of female personnel, cleans boulevards, streets, squares, main roads and sidewalks in an area of ​​approximately 30 thousand kilometers in 2 districts. The teams, who carry out their work 159 hours a day, 7 days a week, with 24 pressure road washing and floor sweeping vehicles, collect nearly 20 tons of waste from the streets a day.

“We expect the support of our citizens”

Compact vacuum road sweeping vehicle operator Özlem Bilir stated that she loves her job. Bilir said, “In order to create a clean Izmir, we go to the field and clean every day before the city wakes up. As a woman, I am proud of myself for using this tool. Cleaning cigarette butts wastes a lot of time

Özlem Pelivan, who works as the regional manager in Konak in the Urban Cleaning Department, mentioned that they are trying to keep the environment clean with the support of the people of Izmir. Pelivan said, “We need to think before throwing garbage on the ground. We have serious problems with cigarette butts. People throw the butts of their cigarettes on the ground.
