Izmir Metro Inc. General Manager Ertan Sayılkan gave the message: "The safety and comfort of our passengers is our top priority." In fact, it was stated that the cause of the accident that occurred when a wagon derailed on Thursday, November 16, will be shared with the public after the technical examination.
Izmir Metro A.Ş. stated that they started a technical investigation after the material damage accident that occurred as a result of the last wagon of the train running in the direction of Evka-3 on the Izmir Metro derailed at the entrance of the Industrial Station and crashed into the platform wall. General Manager Ertan Sayılkan said, “The wagon was pulled to the workshop and taken on the lift. After the examination of both the wagon and the rails, we will be able to understand the cause of the accident; "We will also share it with the public," he said.
Pointing out that misinterpretations are made, especially on social media, that will push the society to anxiety and fear, Sayılkan said, “Izmir Metro is a highly disciplined organization that has been serving our city for more than 20 years. Regular checks and tests are carried out
Maintenance works of trains are carried out, implemented, monitored on a kilometer and time basis, and future projections are prepared by analyzing the results. Control of critical components and replacement of problematic parts are carried out. Within the scope of annual maintenance, mechanical maintenance activities such as door, passenger-driver cabin air conditioning maintenance, interior controls, noise-light-temperature measurements, bogie heavy maintenance, and wheel turning every 100 thousand km are carried out for the entire fleet.
In the Electrical-Electronic Maintenance Department, maintenance of the electric motors of the vehicles, tachometer, ADK, ATP, TKİS systems and battery control, acceleration lever control maintenance are carried out for all vehicles. Faults are eliminated and followed up. In the Periodic Maintenance Department, periodic maintenance Nos. 1, 2 and 3 and tests are carried out after each maintenance. Periodic maintenance is mileage based. Periodic maintenance No. 6 every 9 thousand, 12 thousand and 1 thousand km according to three different vehicle types; Periodic maintenance No. 100 is carried out every 2 thousand km and periodic maintenance No. 5 is carried out every 3 years. In addition, cleaning and general checks of all vehicles taken to the workshop after operation are carried out regularly every day.
There are 35 separate maintenance processes for rails
The length of the rails on which trains run is approximately 40 km. Mechanical maintenance and repair works of the equipment, rails and 3rd rails on the line are also carried out regularly. There are 6 different types of maintenance performed in weekly, monthly, 2-month, annual and 35-year periods. With these maintenances, the ideal geometry of the line is maintained and the rail-wheel relationship is preserved. Within the scope of daily line checks, problems detected regarding the condition of the line and requiring improvement are immediately intervened.
