The base threshold for electric cars with engine power below 160 kilowatts (kW) and subject to 10 percent special consumption tax (SCT) has been increased from 1 million 250 thousand liras to 1 million 450 thousand liras.

The Presidential Decree on the subject came into force after being published in the Official Gazette. With the decision, a change was made in the SCT base based on the SCT rate for passenger cars with only electric motors with an engine power below 160 kW.

With the decision, the tax base threshold for these automobiles, which are subject to a 10 percent SCT rate, was increased from 1 million 250 thousand liras to 1 million 450 thousand liras.

According to the information obtained, the aim is to provide cars that have only electric motors and fall within the said tax base threshold at a lower cost.

The regulation aims to encourage the demand for cars running on conventional fuel to shift towards cars that do not emit exhaust gases, while contributing to the reduction of environmental pollution.
