Chinese satellite navigation system BeiDou (BDS) has been officially recognized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as complying with the required standards. Thus, BDS has become a navigation system generally accepted by global civil aviation.
In its statement, the Civil Aviation Administration of China said that BDS's technical standards and the measures it recommended were included in the annexes of the agreements on international civil aviation of ICAO's existing standard documents. Technical controls of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) certified that the system in question (BDS) is capable of demonstrating navigation performance in different branches all over the world.
As one of four global satellite navigation systems recognized by the United Nations, BDS serves more than 200 countries and regions. ICAO, one of the United Nations organizations, contributes to cooperation and common use in airspace on the basis of mutual benefit to 193 countries.
