Barry Callebaut, the world's leading manufacturer of high quality chocolate and cocoa products, celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Eskişehir facility with a ceremony. The factory, which has continued its activities by increasing its capacity since its establishment in 2013, also creates customer-specific solutions and innovations with its R&D center.
Barry Callebaut, the world's leading manufacturer of high-quality chocolate and cocoa products, operates in more than 40 countries with 66 factories and 26 Chocolate Academies.
Barry Callebaut established its first gourmet sales team in 2005 in Turkey, where it opened its first sales office in 2011. Seeing the potential of Turkey, Barry Callebaut started production in Turkey in 2013 with a large investment and a chocolate production facility established in Eskişehir, which has a strategic location in terms of logistics.
This factory, which is the second factory of the EEMEA region, which includes Turkey, has been producing chocolate from Eskişehir, the pearl of Anatolia, both domestically and to different countries of the world for 10 years.
Both product portfolio and capacity increase
Barry Callebaut Eskişehir factory, which operates with high-tech automation to ensure appropriate food safety and hygiene conditions, continues to increase its capacity exponentially since its establishment. While the capacity of the factory was increased, its competencies continued to be increased. In addition to its existing chocolate lines that produce liquid and solid industrial chocolate, confit and praline lines have been added to its competencies through various investments.
Turkey is among the fastest growing chocolate markets in the world with its potential. The company continues to expand the product range it produces in Turkey according to market development and needs.
Eskişehir facility also leads innovation
The Eskişehir facility also has an important place with its contribution to the innovation tradition of Barry Callebaut, which has a history of more than 180 years. Eskişehir R&D Center, which was launched last year as one of the 50 R&D Centers in the world, is the only center in the EMEA region that offers three functions together: pilot facility, application laboratory and sensory analysis laboratory. The R&D Center serves with the mission of understanding the needs of customers and developing special recipes for them, providing customer-oriented solution support in application laboratories, and reaching the end user with innovations and being close to them.

The 10th anniversary celebrations of the Eskişehir factory took place on September 26, 2023, with the participation of Barry Callebaut employees and senior officials. Making the opening speech at the ceremony, Barry Callebaut Turkey General Manager Ahmet Turgut stated that the Turkish factory investment was planned in a structure suitable for gradual capacity increase and that they foresee more growth potential in the coming period. Turgut said, “Turkey is a favorite market for Barry Callebaut and we will continue to grow within the framework of investment plans that will increase both our capacity and product diversity.” he said.
