Arkas, which has the largest container ship fleet in Turkey, continues to contribute to Turkish foreign trade by adding three container ships to its fleet, increasing the number of ships to 50 and increasing its TEU capacity by 4.101 to 87.335.
Backed by Arkas Holding's 76 years of experience in international transportation, Arkas Line, which carries out regular weekly line transportation between the Black Sea, Mediterranean and West African ports with its own ships, maintains its leadership in maritime transportation, the locomotive of Turkish foreign trade, with the three ships it recently added to its fleet.
Arkas Line increased its TEU capacity by 1.223 to 1.440 with the German-made ships of 1440 TEU Öykü A, 4.101 TEU Onur G. and 87.335TEU Denis A., purchased from Norway-based container operator MPC Container Ships. Arkas Line, which has 35 weekly services and calls at 68 ports around the world, is strengthening some of the lines it provides weekly service by adding additional ships.
Maritime transportation in Turkey ranks first in Turkish exports with 93 million dollars of exports in the first eight months of the year. Arkas Line, which has Turkey's largest container ship fleet today, is among the top 30 among the world's largest shipowners.
Arkas, which increased the number of container ships to 50 with new purchases, also has 6 bunker and 1 bulk carrier in its fleet.
Environmental Transformation
While contributing to Turkish foreign trade, ArkasLine plans to achieve its goal of leaving a more sustainable world to future generations with the technical and operational improvements it carries out in line with the sustainability goals of the Arkas group.
Arkas Line, which has primarily taken action to replace older ships in its fleet with low CII performance, with ships compliant with new regulations, aims to reduce its emissions by 2011 percent through operational improvements by 21, while achieving an emission reduction of more than 2025 percent compared to the base year of 30.
