Antalya Metropolitan Municipality's efforts to increase women's employment continue within the scope of its local development initiative. In this context, work continues for the Free-Range Chicken Egg Production Farm to be implemented in Elmalı.
A Free Range Chicken Egg Production Farm will be established on an area of 11 thousand 250 square meters in Elmalı Yakaçiftlik District by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, which has implemented a new project that will bring the forgotten taste of village eggs to our tables. A "Free Range Chicken Egg Production Cluster" will be built within the scope of the project prepared by taking into consideration the Biosecurity Instruction of Commercial Broiler and Laying Poultry Enterprises of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
IT WILL HAVE A CAPACITY OF 2000 CHICKENS
Single-storey chicken coops with a capacity of 1000 chickens will have a total closed area of 290 m2, each of which will be 580 m2. A 120 m2 feed warehouse was planned between two chicken coops. The total construction area will be 700 m2. The open crawl space where chickens can leave each coop has been determined as 2.250 m2, for a total of 4500 m2. The remaining area of the land will be used for fodder crop planting (6000 m2).
EGGS WILL BECOME A BRAND
The use of domestic hybrids will be supported by using ATAK-S chicken breed in production in the facility to be established. Natural and healthy egg production obtained from free-range chickens will create added value for the producer and increase its profitability, and will create a new brand in the region. This situation is expected to increase egg production and, most importantly, contribute to the regional economy by including more producers in production. Eggs obtained from 2000 laying hens will be packaged and offered to consumers. With the eggs produced, the need for natural eggs, which has a high market demand in the region, will be met, a conscious consumer profile will be created by carrying out consumer awareness activities, and the produced eggs will be turned into a brand.
WOMEN'S HAND IN PRODUCTION
The project aims to increase the number of people working in both production and marketing and to increase women's employment by including women in production activities. It is also planned to provide practical training on laying hen breeding to cooperative member women who have successfully completed the "High Efficiency Chicken Breeding" course at the facility. In addition, the use of the facility will be left to the Women's Cooperatives who have completed their training periodically, in order to operate the chicken coop and generate income from it.
