The incident took place at noon on the train from Shin-Aomori Station to Tokyo. Four people, including a child, suffered burns when they touched the chemical substance in a bag on the train.
Passengers who were evacuated from the train following the incident were handed over to medical teams at Sendai Station. While it was learned that the injuries were not life-threatening, a detailed investigation was launched into the incident.
