Applications for the IMMIB Industrial Design Competitions 19, which will be held for the 2023th time this year, have been extended until Friday, December 1. While this year's theme of the competitions organized for the development of high value-added products was determined as "Natural Disaster and Emergency Concept"; It was stated that the winners and winners of the competition, which will be held in the metal and plastic category, will be given international education scholarships, fair participation awards, design registration support and participation support in international competitions, in addition to monetary prizes.
It will be organized for the 19th time this year, with the support of the Ministry of Commerce and the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TİM), in cooperation with the Istanbul Minerals and Metals Exporters' Associations (İMMİB), Istanbul Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters' Association (İDDMİB) and the Industrial Designers Professional Association (ETMK). Applications for “İMMİB Industrial Design Competitions 2023” have been extended until Friday, December 1. Çetin Tecdelioğlu, Deputy Chairman of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of İDDMİB, stated that the main goal of the competitions is to develop products with high added value and increase competitiveness for exports and said: "We have been trying to add the power of design to exports by organizing these competitions for 18 years. The figures we have obtained show that there is an increase in value-added exports. "We find it gratifying that the importance of design is increasingly understood, and we attach importance to disseminating and encouraging industrial design activities." said.
This year's concept is "Natural Disaster and Emergency"
The competition, which was announced to be held this year with the theme of "Natural Disaster and Emergency Concept" and in the metal and plastic category, has been receiving increasing interest in the design and business world since 2005. More than 18 project applications have been received in 5.445 years, and more than 520 projects have been awarded for the competitions, where famous designers, professionals from the Professional Association of Industrial Designers, senior managers of sector organizations that have managed to become brands in Turkey and the world, and İMMİB officials are among the Selection Committee Members.
While some of the works that participate in competitions in which creative and talented designers and students participate every year have the chance to be put into production, designers with projects also have the opportunity to be employed in exporting companies.
A total of 89 designers were given scholarships to study abroad
In the competitions, which continue to allow industrialists and designers to meet on the same platform by having prototypes of the winning projects made and exhibited in many fairs at home and abroad, the winners of the student categories every year are attended by IMMIB, the world's largest kitchen and household goods fair, with a national participation organization. It is hosted at the Frankfurt Ambiente Fair. In addition, the winners are sent to study abroad with a scholarship, with their education and living expenses covered within the scope of the quota offered by the Ministry of Commerce for the competition. The aim of the competition is to continue to support Turkish design and designers, where a total of 89 designers have benefited from overseas education scholarships so far and there are currently 24 more students who continue to receive scholarships abroad.
In addition, the registration, utility model or patent expenses of the award-winning projects of the designers who are ranked in the metal and plastic categories are supported up to 1000 TL, based on the submission of the relevant payment documents to the association.
Support for participation in international competitions
The winning designers in the competition are supported by the union with up to 500 Euros for the participation costs of the "International Design Awards" in which they participate with their award-winning projects. In case of winning the competition, accommodation, transportation and visa expenses up to 1000 Euros for participation in the Award Ceremony will be covered by the union.
