Our citizens also have an important job to do here. "Water is everything to us, please use it sparingly," he called.
Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem Yüce evaluated the latest situation regarding drinking water resources in the city. Yüce stated that Sapanca Lake, which provides a breath of fresh air for almost 3 million citizens by meeting the drinking water needs of Sakarya and Kocaeli, went through the dry period without any risk, in which all dams and drinking water resources in Turkey were affected, and said that with the heavy rain that hit the previous day, 6 centimeters of rain fell. He said that they recorded an increase.
Latest situation on the lake: 31.74
Stating that the lake, whose maximum level is 32.20, is currently at 31.74 levels, Mayor Yüce called on citizens to "save water" to avoid entering into a risky period. In addition, Mayor Yüce stated that they are monitoring the Akçay Dam, which meets the drinking water needs of the city, and emphasized that they continue drilling works in all 16 districts to reduce the burden on resources.
“We are keeping an eye on it”
Mayor Yüce pointed out that Sapanca Lake is among the highest quality drinking water sources in Turkey and said, “We take care of Sapanca Lake. Because it is among the most magnificent fresh water resources in Turkey. We never allow illegal water withdrawals, water-damaging activities and environmental pollution in our lake, which has the richest minerals in terms of pH value. SASKİ's engineers and teams monitor the facilities around the lake and the lake basin 7/24. "We constantly examine our water in a laboratory environment and work to get better quality efficiency," he said.
“Please let's give importance to savings”
Stating that they were not at risk during the dry period, but that water should be used economically in order to maintain this, Yüce said, “As you know, Turkey experienced a dry period at the end of the summer season. The level in many of our dams and water resources has dropped to critical points. But thank God, as a result of our hard work, we did not fall into a risky period in Sapanca Lake. With the recent rains, we recorded an increase of 6 centimeters and reached the level of 37.74. But in order to maintain this, we have to use our water economically. Without water, we cannot talk about life. "Please let's use our water carefully and carefully," he said.
