Logistech – 2nd Logistics, Storage and Technologies Fair, organized by İZFAŞ and hosted by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, started in Fair Izmir. Stating that they are working to make Izmir a leading city in logistics, Mayor Soyer said, “Logistics is not just any sector for Izmir. This is the essence of the city itself. That's why the Logistech fair is very valuable to us,” he said.
Logistech - Logistics, Storage and Technologies Fair, organized for the second time this year, opened its doors in Fuar Izmir. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor hosted the opening of the fair that will bring the logistics industry together in Izmir between 27-29 September. Tunç Soyer especially; CHP Izmir Deputy Murat Bakan, Izmir Chamber of Commerce Council President Selami Özpoyraz, IMEAK Chamber of Shipping Izmir Branch President Yusuf Öztürk, İZFAŞ General Manager Canan Karaosmanoğlu Buyer, representatives of chambers, associations and non-governmental organizations, and political party representatives attended.
Soyer: “Logistech is very valuable”
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor stated that the Logistech Fair is very important for the city and the country. Tunç Soyer, “Izmir is a logistics city by nature. That's why we cannot fill the mold of Izmir with a self-contained local economy. This is a sea gate between Asia and Europe... This is a Mediterranean port city... This is Izmir, whose economic borders are larger than itself... I said all this to remind you of this. Logistics is not just any sector for Izmir. This is the essence of the city itself. That's why Logistech is very valuable to us. While its global size will be 2023 trillion dollars in 10, it is expected to increase almost one and a half times to 14 trillion dollars in the next five years. In accordance with the inheritance we received from Izmir's history, it is our duty to get a sufficient share of this growth. We have been working for this with all our stakeholders for four years. We strive to make Izmir a leading city in logistics with the ports our city has from Alsancak to Aliağa. There's only one way. "To continue to maintain and grow the vision partnership and city alliance we established in Izmir without slowing down," he said.
“The fair gives great excitement”
President giving information about the fair Tunç Soyer, “The number of participants and stand area of our fair, where we expect more than ten thousand visitors this year, have almost doubled compared to last year. We anticipated these when we took the first step. This year, we will meet with more than 10 participants in an area of 150 thousand square meters. Kınay Taşımacılık, one of the important actors of the logistics industry, became the main sponsor of our fair. I would like to thank them endlessly for their broad-minded decisions. Logistech, an important carrier of our vision of making Izmir the 'Logistics Central Base', brings together all active stakeholders in this regard. The steps we take will strengthen Izmir's position in international trade corridors, including 'One Belt One Road'. China, which allocated a budget of 5 trillion dollars for the 'One Belt One Road' project, has invested more than 1,37 trillion dollars in Europe alone. A brand new opportunity is emerging for Izmir due to the tension between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the Russia-Ukraine war, and the fact that Piraeus Port has now reached its growth limits. Something else might be possible. "That's exactly why this fair gives great excitement," he said.
Öztürk: “There is no Izmir without Alsancak Port”
Stating that the fair continues to grow in its second year, IMEAK Chamber of Shipping Izmir Branch President Yusuf Öztürk said, “It continues on its way with running steps. The fair, which was held in a truly collaborative manner, has become the shining star of the industry. Countries are strong with logistics networks. We should determine the 100th anniversary of the Republic as the starting point of the sector. There is no Izmir without Alsancak Port. Another kind of logistics is possible. "I thank you very much for leading us, for being with us when we started to take the steps, and for your leadership," he said.
