Prof at Memorial Wellness Dermatology Department. Dr. Pelin Özgen gave information about non-surgical face lift and skin rejuvenation with HIFU. Prof at Memorial Wellness Dermatology Department said that HIFU is an innovative aesthetic application used in non-surgical face lift, skin tightening and wrinkle reduction procedures. Dr. Pelin Özgen: “HIFU works by heating the tissues under the skin using high-intensity ultrasound waves. These waves do not cause damage when passing through the skin surface, but create a thermal (heat) effect on the tissues under the skin. This heating stimulates collagen production, which makes the skin firm and elastic. HIFU is a non-surgical procedure, meaning it does not require surgical incisions or stitches. Therefore, the healing process is faster and the risks that may occur after the procedure are less.” he said.
Effective results in a single session
Stating that the HIFU process is generally used in the face and neck areas, Prof. Dr. Pelin Özgen continued as follows:
“It aims to tighten the skin and reduce the signs of sagging. It can highlight facial lines and make the skin look younger and fresher. The effect of the HIFU procedure may vary depending on the person's age, skin type and intensity of application. HIFU procedure is usually a single session. The effect can start to be noticed in a short time. Small areas may take less than 30 minutes to treat, while larger areas such as the face and neck may take longer. After the HIFU procedure, people can usually return to their daily activities immediately. This reduces the need to disrupt work or daily life.”
"Be careful with these after HIFU procedure"
Underlining that there are some important points to consider after non-surgical skin tightening and rejuvenation with HIFU, Prof. Dr. Pelin Özgen pointed out that the instructions recommended by the specialist physician should be followed after the procedure and shared the following:
”Skin may become more sensitive. Skin care products should be selected following the recommendations of the specialist physician. The skin should not be washed with extremely hot water or harsh cleansers. The skin should be protected from UV rays by using sunscreen products. Additionally, protective measures such as hats or umbrellas should be taken during outdoor activities. After the procedure, slight redness, swelling or sensitivity may occur on the skin. These types of symptoms are usually short-term and temporary. However, if extreme pain or long-term discomfort is felt, a doctor should be consulted. Care should be taken when applying make-up after application. Since the skin is sensitive, light and mineral-based make-up products should be preferred. Heavy exercises or intense physical activities should be avoided. Such activities may increase swelling or delay the healing process. Consumption of alcohol and cigarettes should be avoided, as they may negatively affect skin healing. Medicines or food supplements should be used in consultation with a specialist physician. If there is any medication or supplement that needs to be used after the procedure, it should be prescribed by the specialist physician. Follow-up appointments determined by the specialist physician should be attended regularly. “During these checks, the healing process of the skin is evaluated and necessary precautions are taken.”
