
The 13th Watermelon Festival in Diyarbakır will be held in Dağkapı Square with events to be held on 22-23 September.
The 13th Watermelon Festival, which will be held this year in cooperation with the Governorship and the Metropolitan Municipality, to promote the geographically registered Diyarbakır Watermelon, which was carried by camels and cut with swords in the past, will be held in Dağkapı Square so that citizens can easily participate.
The events will start with the Festival Cortege march from Goat Bastion to Dağkapı Square on September 22 at 15.30.
During the events in Dağkapı Square, children and young people will have a fun time with watermelon eating competitions among high school students and watermelon rolling competitions among children aged 8-15.
The handmade products of the trainees studying at Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Art and Vocational Training Courses (DİSMEK) will be exhibited at the stands to be set up in the square.
The best breeder will be selected
Within the scope of the festival, the farmer who grows the best watermelon in Diyarbakır will be selected.
The Metropolitan Municipality will reward the first place with 20 thousand liras, the second place with 15 thousand liras, and the third place with 10 thousand liras.
The events will end with concerts
At the festival, where the Band show will be held after the competitions, artist Bilal Sonses will give a concert at 20.00, and artist Rojin will give a concert at Dağkapı Square on Saturday, September 23, at 20.00.
As part of the festival, the Diyarbakır Watermelon Special Race will also be held at Diyarbakır Hippodrome on September 23 at 21.00.
