Athletes who won first place in acrobatics in different countries this year will compete for the championship in the Paragliding World Acro Cup Super Final, which will be held on 25-30 September in Babadağ in Muğla's Fethiye district.
Welcoming thousands of adventure enthusiasts every year, Babadağ is among the locations preferred by professional paragliding athletes as well as tourists.
Following the "World Acro Cup" event held for the first time in the district last year, the Paragliding World Acro Cup Super Final will be held on 25-30 September this year.
Athletes who became champions in paragliding acrobatics competitions held in different countries this year will compete to be on the top step of the podium in Babadağ. The champion of the champions in the acrobatics branch will be determined in the event to be held in cooperation with Babadağ Teleferik, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Turkish Air Sports Federation, Muğla Governorship and District Governorate.
Babadağ Cable Car General Manager Cengiz Koçak said in his statement that it was decided to hold the Paragliding World Acro Cup Super Final in Babadağ in line with the report prepared by the International Air Sports Federation (FAI) after the World Acro Cup held last year.
Emphasizing that the champion of the champions will be determined in Babadağ this year, Koçak said, “The most important event of the year for the athletes is the World Acro Cup Super Final, which will be held here. The FAI offered us to organize the World Aerobatic Championship in 2024. This championship is the first category competition in the FAI. It had not been done for the last 10 years. They asked if we wanted to do it. We said, 'We are ready for this event too.' "The facilities we have as a facility, the incredible opportunities provided by the mountains and the nature of Ölüdeniz... The World Aerobatic Championship, the world's most important paragliding competition at the Category-1 level, will be held in Babadağ next year."
“Speedfly” flights will also be organized
Announcing that the Women's and Men's Turkish Cup competition, which could not be held in previous events, will be held at the World Acro Cup Super Final on September 25-30, Koçak said that "speedfly" flights will also be held within the scope of the event: "For the arrival of athletes who have proven themselves in the world with smaller parachutes, which we call speedfly." We are organizing a small event.
We are organizing the Women's Turkish Cup for the first time in our history. Acrobatics in paragliding is not a branch that has reached a very large audience in Turkey. We will organize the Turkish Cup for men and women with the best in the world to inspire Turkish athletes in this branch. Currently, 36 of the best athletes in the world have applied for the super final competition.
Apart from this, there are approximately 700 athletes from Turkey and other countries who want to fly here or come to watch the competition. “Pointing out that they attach importance to quality rather than quantity in the event, Koçak emphasized that they aim to reach larger audiences by attracting the best of the world to Babadağ.
