Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said, “There is a daily guarantee of 70 thousand 574 vehicles in the Eurasia Tunnel. In the past daily period, the number of vehicles using the Eurasia Tunnel exceeded 74 thousand on average, compared to the September average. On April 22, 2023, the maximum daily number of vehicles reached 85.491. "Our state will switch to revenue sharing in the Eurasia Tunnel within a few years," he said.

The opposition's perception operation regarding the guarantee fee for highways and bridges, which they talk about at every opportunity, has collapsed. The giant works that were built without a single penny from the state's pocket began to bear fruit. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu inspected the Eurasia Tunnel, one of Turkey's most important projects, and received a briefing from the authorities. Minister Uraloğlu announced that the traffic density in the Eurasia Tunnel is increasing day by day and the number of guaranteed vehicle passages has been exceeded. Minister Uraloğlu said, “The Eurasia Tunnel has a daily guarantee of 70 thousand 574 vehicles. In the past period, the number of vehicles using the Eurasia Tunnel exceeded 74 thousand per day, according to the September average. On April 22, 2023, the maximum daily number of vehicles reached 85.491. "Our state will switch to revenue sharing in the Eurasia Tunnel, whose traffic guarantee is 70 thousand 574 vehicles per day, within a few years," he said.

The daily vehicle numbers guaranteed by the state on the Izmir highway and Osmangazi Bridge, which were built with the Public Private Partnership model, were exceeded in the past months. The numbers are expected to increase even more as the effect of the pandemic disappears completely. Thus, the country will gain giant works without spending a single penny from the Treasury coffers for passenger guarantee.

Minister Uraloğlu also pointed out that the Eurasia Tunnel has successfully achieved many firsts and opened a new era in the world tunneling industry, and touched upon the features of the Eurasia Tunnel. Uraloğlu said, “Seismic bracelets were used in the Eurasia Tunnel, whose deepest point is 106,4 meters below sea level, to increase earthquake resistance. In this way, the tunnel was built in such a way that its 'service conditions' against an earthquake that may occur once in 500 years and its security conditions against an earthquake that may occur once in 2 years will not be compromised. We also instantly observe its behavior against possible earthquakes. "With the installed system, it is constantly monitored with 500 accelerometers throughout the tunnel, 12 displacement sensors that monitor in three dimensions and 21 accelerometers installed in the business buildings," he said.

400/7 MONITORING WITH MORE THAN 24 CAMERAS

Reminding that the safe and healthy flow of traffic in the Eurasia Tunnel, which is managed with smart road technologies, is ensured without interruption, Minister Uraloğlu said, “The traffic flow in the tunnel and approach roads in the Eurasia Tunnel is monitored 7 hours a day, 24 days a week by the operators working in the control room. Necessary "protection" plans for all possible emergency situations have been prepared considering the "people first" principle and defined in the SCADA System. All systems such as energy, ventilation, lighting, traffic signs, radio announcements and access control work automatically in integrity. Unusual situations such as accidents or vehicle malfunctions can be detected instantly with more than 400 cameras and automatic event detection systems. "In emergencies, expert emergency teams intervene with motorcycles specially produced in accordance with the tunnel structure and equipped with fire extinguishing equipment, and the response time is under two minutes," he said.
