The number of baby and children's libraries that allow children to discover their own literary journeys at an early age is increasing in Turkey. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism delivers libraries to all over Turkey, from airports to train stations, from shopping malls to beaches and prisons, while ensuring that children have easy access to books.

According to the statement made by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the number of baby and children's libraries that allow children to discover their own literary journeys at an early age is increasing in Turkey.

While the Ministry delivers libraries to all over Turkey, from airports to train stations, from shopping malls to beaches and prisons, it also ensures that children have easy access to books.

Early literacy education is also given and sensory tests are carried out in the ministry's new generation libraries, which target infancy and early childhood and strengthen the baby-parent relationship. These places, where babies meet books, enable children to become active library users at a later age.

Millions of children are hosted at library events

In children's libraries, which have a rich collection, robotics, felt, origami, knitting, ceramics, marbling, sewing, jewelry design, bookmark and hat making workshops, shadow play shows, story hours, talks on literature, culture, art, personal development and health. Family seminars and awareness trainings are also organized.

In the public libraries within the Ministry, activities and educational programs on science, robotics-coding, wooden design, mathematics, smart agriculture, marbling, hot glass, epoxy workshops and virtual reality (VR) platforms meet with visitors.

The total number of 200 million 59 thousand 293 children who participated in 2 thousand 484 events held in the last five years in the Ministry's libraries, where nearly 20 workshops throughout Turkey serve, is increasing day by day.

6 new libraries in 7 new cities

The Ministry is adding new ones to its 78 children's and baby libraries, which open up to the magical world of books. The Ministry will introduce 6 new baby and children's libraries to younger readers in 7 new provinces.

The new provinces where the Ministry, which established the first baby library in Turkey within the Karabük Provincial Public Library and Tekirdağ Şarköy District Public Library in 2018, will move the baby and children's libraries will be Istanbul, Antalya, Adana, Mersin, Bilecik and Niğde.

The Ministry has a total of 5 baby libraries, 19 literature libraries and museum libraries, 11 shopping mall libraries, 11 station libraries, 2 airport libraries and 3 justice libraries throughout Turkey, 7 of which are in Ankara.

In addition to a total of 279 libraries within the Ministry, 75 mobile libraries equipped with modern tools and equipment serve all over Turkey.

The adventure of publishing a book will be explained with pictures

The Ministry is also preparing a set of 7 books to tell children about the adventure of publishing a book.

"Reading Culture Places: Children's Books Set", which the Ministry continues to work on within the scope of the "Printing and Publication of National Cultural Works Project", is presented to little readers in colorful and illustrated formats with drawings by a different illustrator in each volume, in bookstores, writer's houses, libraries, second-hand booksellers, printing houses, publishing houses and book fairs. It will tell the stories that take place in places like.

The work will raise awareness among children about issues such as books and intellectual property rights from a young age. Children will be able to learn about all the processes from the birth of a book to its reaching the readers from this work.

This set, prepared by the Ministry, will also have text and visual content so that children can recognize and discover all the professions and places that contributed to the creation of the book.

The book set, which will be included in the Ministry's library collections this year, will be given as gifts to little readers at children's publishing workshops and events.

Readers will also be able to access the work as an e-book in the My E-Book mobile application, which will be available for sale in the book sales stores of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
