The exhibition of living legend and famous painter Devrim Erbil opened at Nevmekan Sahil. The exhibition includes a selection of Istanbul and Anatolia themed works made by the famous artist Devrim Erbil in the last 20 years.
Türkmen: “Devrim Erbil holds an important place in our national visual memory”
Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Üsküdar Mayor Hilmi Türkmen said:
“Devrim Erbil depicts nature, Anatolian towns and Istanbul with his own lines and colors; He is a master painter who holds an important place in our national visual memory as both an artist and a scientist. His works travel throughout Turkey and the world and are included in distinguished museums and collections. Devrim Erbil holds an important place in our national visual memory today, both with his works as an artist, the students he trained as scientists, and the academic texts he produced. We always appreciate this success and acknowledge its dignity.”
Erbil: “For me, art is not just painting, but contributing to society.”
Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, painter Devrim Erbil said that art is the criterion of civilization and continued as follows:
“You can see the traces of my sixty-year art journey in this exhibition, which I opened with the support of Üsküdar Municipality and District Governorship. For me, art means not just painting, but also contributing to society. That's why I have done and continue to work in many areas such as education, culture and social responsibility. I believe that art is the criterion of civilization. As the great Ataturk said, let's give importance to art, science, love and friendship so that the world will be more beautiful. Let our children live in a better world.”
Great interest in the exhibition from famous businessmen
While the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Fine Arts, Ankara Painting and Sculpture Museum, Izmir Painting and Sculpture Museum, Erzurum Painting and Sculpture Museum, Istanbul Painting and Sculpture Museum were among those who supported the exhibition, the business world also showed great interest in the exhibition. Famous businessmen Ali Koç, Murat Ülker, Murat Sancak, Remzi Gür and Mesut Albayrak were among the owners of Devrim Erbil's paintings exhibited.
